Lehman Sworn in as President of
Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors
HARRISBURG, Pa. – William L. Lehman, PLS, was sworn in as the 2010 president of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors' (PSLS) at its annual conference in Hershey, Pa., January 24-27.
Lehman has been a planner at Somerset County Planning Commission, Somerset, Pa., for 24 years. He is a member of the PSLS Allegheny Heartlands Chapter, and has been active in PSLS activities for more than 15 years. Some of his roles include serving as chairman of the History Committee, member of the Education Committee, and host for the state convention.
"I have enjoyed working with the PSLS Executive Committee, board of directors, committee chairs and staff the past three years,” Lehman said. “I look forward to serving the PSLS members in 2010.”
A licensed professional land surveyor for more than 30 years, Lehman is active in the Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset County, where he has demonstrated colonial surveying at a local craft fair for more than two decades. In addition, he is a member of the Somerset County Archaeological Society, Berlin Area Historical Society, and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He is also a member of the Somerset Borough Planning Commission Board.
Beginning his career as a surveyor in the coal mining industry, Lehman received his associate degree in civil engineering technology from Williamsport Area Community College in 1975. He and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 34 years, and his son, Bill, is a medical physics graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University.
PSLS extends congratulations to Lehman, who has been a dedicated member of the society since 1995.
The Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors is a statewide professional organization that supports the practice of land surveying. The society focuses on providing education, encouraging legislative involvement, enhancing public awareness, and promulgating ethics of the profession.
