Amendment To Registration ActThe Board name was changed to Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. The definition for "employee" was added, two tier examination process was added requiring four years experience after the issuance of a certificate for an S.I.T. or E.I.T. The two tier examination process for surveyors will commence in the year 1994. Composition of the Board was increased by adding two surveyor members and one additional public member. The definition of practice of land surveying adds the words "storm water management surveys." Municipalities Planning Code(Amendments to Act 247) The Act is enabling legislation for townships, small cities and boroughs to adopt zoning and subdivision ordinances. Provided in section 503, contents of subdivision, land development ordinance for plans to be prepared by land surveyors and/or professional engineers as may be required. Affidavit of Noninvolvement(Act 198879) Section 5, Title 42 is amended by adding section 7502 which reads, "Affidavit of noninvolvement": 1) Dismissal by affidavit in, "any action for negligence, any construction design professional who is retained to perform professional services on a construction project may have the action against such construction design professional dismissed upon filing of an affidavit of noninvolvement." Statute of Limitations/Repose Act(Act 1988-79) Section 5537, Land Surveying "Statute of Limitations" limits time for which surveyors can be sued for errors to 21 years. Included is also a "Statute of Repose" which gives anyone finding the error four years in which to file suit or forever be barred. Uniform Parcel Identifier Law(Act 1988, Public Law No. 1) Enabling legislation for county recorder of deeds to establish a uniform parcel identifier system. Section 3.d. "Assignment of Uniform Parcel Identifier," requires a "Precise Survey" showing metes and bounds description on any change of size by subdivision or other. Pennsylvania Land Surveyors' FoundationFounded in 1990 to provide scholarships to future land surveyors. |
