NSPS Announces Student Competition

30 Oct 2014 8:36 AM | Office Manager (Administrator)

NSPS has announced its 2015 Student Competition.  There are changes in this year's competition which allow a wider variety of students to participate. The announcement is below.

Greetings everyone:

First and foremost: Please note that there will be two separated judging brackets this year. One for students in Associates Degree Programs and one for students in Baccalaureate Degree Programs. This is a new proposal by the NSPS Education Committee and it is hoped that it will encourage more schools with Associates Degree Programs to get involved in this program!

Attached please find the Instructions and Information regarding the 2015 NSPS Student Competition. With winter approaching we decided that a project that required the searching for boundary evidence might run into complications so this year’s project will revolve around the relative and absolute errors associated with different topographic mapping methods and systems. As in previous years participants will have an opportunity to design their own technically appropriate approach to the problem at hand. Detailed Paper, Poster and Oral Presentation Rubrics will be out by November 15, 2014 and will be similar to those used over the past several years.

The National Society of Professional Surveyors is holding their Fall meetings in Overland Kansas later this week. At that time we will narrow the options for venues and dates. Our goal is to choose a location that is not difficult to get to (read: relatively inexpensive) and to choose dates as close to mid-late march as possible. We are also committed to finding a conference venue that will provide participants with a full conference experience of seminars, networking, banquets and exhibits. As soon as that information is in place everyone will be notified.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck!
