York College Engineering Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program

The York College Engineering Program is an ABET accredited, four year Bachelor of Science program with majors in mechanical, electrical and computer engineering.   

Students in our engineering program are required to complete three cooperative (co-op) educational engineering work experiences before they are eligible to graduate. The co-op experience ensures that our students have the ability to apply their classroom learning to real-world engineering work and develops a strong pool of talented engineers for employers in our regional area.  

About the York College Engineering Co-op: 

1. Students co-op for three semester periods and are full time employees while on co-op (no required classes for students during co-op) as follows:

       Seniors - fall semester (Sept - Jan)

       Juniors - spring semester (Jan - May)

       Sophomores - summer semester (May - Aug)

2. To earn 2 college credits for co-op, students are required to work full time for 12-15 weeks during each co-op. (summer 12 wks) (fall and spring 15 wks).
