Georgia History Press announces the July pre-release of award-winning Dr. William J. (Bill) Morton’s latest book, Andrew Ellicott: The Stargazer Who Defined America. This book is not Ellicott’s biography, although previously unknown facts of his life will be revealed, but is the never-before-told story of the survey of the first southern boundary between the United States and Spain. Ellicott’s efforts could arguably be said to have stopped Spain’s dominance of the entire North American Continent. The dramatic events of his four-year-long efforts are the stuff of fiction: adventures into unknown territory fraught with physical hazards, hostile Indians, double agents, and a cast of remarkable characters.

A percentage of the sales to surveyors will be donated to the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

The book will soon be available on Amazon, BN.com, and as an ebook on Smashwords, Kindle, Lulu, Nook and Apple iBooks.
