The NW PA GIS Conference is pleased to invite you to participate in two-half day hands-on workshops:
1- Land Surveying
2- Introduction to ArcGIS Pro
They are both planned for Wednesday, October 14. Two sessions of the Land Surveying workshop (morning and afternoon), and one session of Introduction to ArcGIS Pro (afternoon).
Land Surveying: A 300 Year Old Profession – Rope Stretching to Satellite Positioning:
Gregory Clark, PLS-PE, and Cory Mason, LSIT
This workshop will provide an historical perspective of surveying, demonstrate modern surveying tools, and analyze field data. It’ll be divided into three parts. Part I: Introduction and history of surveying, surveying tools (old and new), the science and mathematics behind surveying, theory of errors, and modern units of measurement. Part II: hands-on field experience using modern surveying equipment (Topcon GPS). And, Part III: Analysis and comparison of field data measurements, and Q&A.
Introduction to ArcGIS Pro:
Yasser Ayad, Ph.D., GISP
This workshop aims at introducing ArcGIS Pro to anyone working with ArcGIS Desktop. ArcGIS Pro software is going to become one of the major rivals to the Desktop system and is being prepared to replace it in the upcoming years. This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to interact with the new software through introductory lectures as well as hands-on practice. This workshop will discuss the following: ArcGIS Pro Interface and Project Structure, Map Views, Displaying Data and Symbology, Editing, Performing Geoprocessing and Analysis in Pro, Creating Map Layouts, and other Features and Capabilities.
Whether you plan to attend the NW PA GIS Conference or not, this is an excellent opportunity to learn more about land surveying techniques and to catch up with the new ArcGIS Pro platform.
The cost of each of the workshops is $25. To register, click here.
If you are interested in attending the full NW PA GIS Conference (October 15-16, 2015) in addition to the workshops you would also need to register at the conference's website (separate registration). Do not hesitate to contact Dr. Yasser Ayad (yayad@clarion.edu) if you have any questions or comments. I’m looking forward seeing you at the workshops and the conference.
