    We are pleased to announce that PSLS has been selected as the recipient of the NSPS Affiliate of the Year Award! NSPS Executive Director Curt Sumner extended his congratulations to PSLS and noted that the "official" announcement will be published soon. He said: "Congratulations on receiving the award, and for providing such a thorough application. We will publish the results when the judging is completed for the Map/Plat and Excellence in Journalism categories. I hope other societies will be inspired to submit for Affiliate of the Year in the future."

    Pennsylvania 811 - 2014 PA Safety Days: Bringing the Industry Together.

    The conference provides a forum for Pennsylvania 811 stakeholders (excavators, designers, facility owners, project owners, public officials, emergency responders, and other excavation professionals) to exchange information and promote protection of Pennsylvania's critical underground infrastructure throughout the state. The daylong conference begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM. The keynote speaker is Brad Livingston who will talk about how one wrong choice on the worksite can result in a lifetime of regret. The remainder of the day will feature numerous concurrent education sessions and demonstrations. Up to (2) DEP credits are available for water/wastewater operators in their 3 year license cycle if a valid DEP number is provided at the time of registration. Arrive early by 7:00 AM, and stay late for the door prizes at 1:30 PM. Pennsylvania 811 provides a complimentary lunch for registered attendees.

    At the Central PA Safety Day the Susquehanna Municipal Trust will hold its fourth annual Safety @ Work Competition.

    Many GPS users have reported intermittent outages in their devices. This has been linked to flawed processing of satellite data within certain receiver chipsets. Read the article from the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) as posted on the American Association of Geodetic Surveying website.
