    Fellow PSLS Members:

At the December PSLS board meeting, a motion was passed to create a committee to review and revise the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NSPS and PSLS for participating in the 100% Campaign, which is aimed at obtaining 100% membership in NSPS from state affiliates.

The MOU Committee has made revisions to the document and it is awaiting signatures from board officers. Once signed, the MOU will move to NSPS for review and signatures to make PSLS a full participant. At that point, I will transition from being an NSPS Governor with no voting privileges to a board director with full voting rights. This will offer PSLS a stronger voice at the national level and I will represent members in this capacity at the April 12-14 NSPS spring meeting.

Through this agreement, PSLS members will become NSPS members. This should take effect immediately; however, timing and the impact on your 2013 dues will be solidified at the April NSPS meetings. In the 2014 dues cycle, PSLS will pay the $40 NSPS dues for the first year to cover all full PSLS Members regardless of whether they were NSPS members previously; and Associate Members, Student Members, and Life Members who were 2012 NSPS members (those who were not 2012 NSPS members would need to pay the additional $40 NSPS dues on top of the regular PSLS dues).

Please read the MOU agreement here (pdf). For questions, please contact me or the PSLS office.

As a part of my new duties, I will be reporting on the happenings at the NSPS Executive Board meeting as well as the NSPS improvements that are being made and improvements planned in the future. You answered the call of NSPS, now they will answer the call of surveyors around our nation.
    Sincerely,

    Robert R. Miller, PLS
    NSPS Governor of Pennsylvania
