Description: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation frequently has the need for high accuracy pavement surveys especially on Interstate highways. The most common method for obtaining such surveys is conventional solutions such as GPS or Total Station surveys. However, depending on the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) and other factors, these conventional approaches may not be the safest or most economical method. While helicopter based photogrammetry has been the answer to such surveys for the last decade, Vehicle mounted LiDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) or Mobile LiDAR has progressed to become the more economical and more accurate solution. This webinar examines the approaches and a test project which employed both. The test project includes map accuracy and cost benefits analysis.

Presenter Bio: Michael Loose CP, SP, is a Certified Photogrammetrist (ASPRS) and a licensed Surveyor Photogrammetrist (Virginia). He has been a photogrammetrist since 1993 and is currently a photogrammetry manager with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
