Hunt Engineering Company (HUNT) located in Malvern, PA is experiencing growth and needs team members for the Survey Services Department.  Our workload continues to grow steadily, and we project great things for 2019 and beyond.  HUNT’s Survey Services team provides services for various clients in southeastern Pennsylvania; our typical workload includes topographic, utility, airport, transportation, ALTA/NSPS and bathymetric surveys. 

We are accepting resumes for all positions (Project Surveyor, Survey Crew Chief, Survey Instrument Operator, Survey Technician), with focus on the following immediate hire openings:

Survey CAD Technician 

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Process field survey data into CAD software packages (Civil3D or Microstation).
  • Plot deeds from legal descriptions.
  • Perform simple computations with a hand-held calculator.
  • Perform basic survey calculations with computer software.
  • Create CAD plans from existing paper plans when necessary by scaling and/or digitizing.
  • Create CAD plans from survey data collected by our field crews.
  • Participate in Quality Control process.

While individuals with prior land surveying experience are preferred, individuals that exhibit a strong work ethic and willingness to learn will be considered.  The preferred candidate will have prior experience using Civil3D, MicroStation and/or Inroads Survey.

Other job requirements:

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office products suite.
  • Must have reliable transportation to office.
  • Must have a safety mindset.
  • Exhibit a team attitude and work well with others.

 

Survey Crew Chief

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Care for and maintain field equipment and assigned vehicle
  • Complete daily reports of field activities, vehicle logs and other required paperwork.
  • Lead two (2) and/or three (3) person field crews.
  • Communicates with clients and the public at large during field surveying activities.
  • Plans the daily activities of the crew on the job site.
  • Has the knowledge necessary to operate surveying instruments and measuring devices (tape measure, total station, level and/or GPS) needed to complete different types of field survey work assignments.  Provides training and guidance to instrument operators on the same.

Prior land surveying experience as a survey crew chief is required for this position; individuals that exhibit a strong work ethic and willingness to learn will be given high preference.

The work environment is 100% outdoors, therefore the position requires individuals willing to work in changing weather conditions (hot/cold and or wet/dry).  Worksite locations vary greatly from urban areas within the Philadelphia region to undeveloped sites throughout the tristate region as well.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk during entire workday; ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and supplies

Survey Instrument Operator 

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Operate surveying instruments and measuring devices (tape measure, total station, level and/or GPS) needed to complete different types of field survey work assignments.
  • Operate an electronic data collector and/or keep written field notes.
  • Perform simple computations with a hand-held calculator.
  • Hammer stakes, rebars, nails and other survey markers at designated points and at specified elevations.
  • Mark survey stakes and survey points with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks with the use of magic marker, keel (marking crayon), spray paint, scratches, tacks and other marking devices needed.
  • Uses metal detector and shovel to recover property monumentation.
  • Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey with a machete or brush axe.
