The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Director of Surveys, a PLS, to perform a broad range of survey activities. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, able to work independently with a minimum of supervision, and have a strong work ethic.

     Requirements:

    • 2 years minimum of relevant experience
    • Ability to communicate with Director of Surveys and Project Managers.
    • Knowledge of a variety of conventional and GPS equipment, software, and data collectors.
    • Supervise and perform field surveys and calculations for boundary, control, topographic, and construction projects.
    • HAZWOPER training or willing to go through the training
    • MicroStation or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Ability to pass background check and drug test.
    • Willing to travel out of town with overnight stays

    Dawood is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to support our growing operations in our Canonsburg, PA office.

    General Purpose

    This position performs a variety of supervisory and technical duties related to the field of Land Surveying. Using current technology, survey knowledge and past experience, takes responsible charge for various survey activities associated with land surveys utilized in the location, design and/or construction of roads, structures, geotechnical, flood control projects, storm water facilities, recreational facilities, land development, subdivisions, or other engineering projects, transportation planning, traffic control of highways, and/or other designs. Independently performs a variety of complex duties including assembling of deed mosaics and review of right-of-way plans. Manages survey projects and communicates with clients as needed. Manages multiple survey crews and office staff as required.

     Essential Duties

    ·         Ensures compliance with all corporate QA/QC requirements

    Required Skills and Experience

    ·         Current Pennsylvania Professional Land Surveyor license (PLS) REQUIRED, WV preferred

    ·         Minimum of 5 years of related experience

    ·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.  

    ·         Experience with Civil3D, Microstation and Carlson Survey preferred

    ·         Physical requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

    ·         Possess a valid driver's license in the employee's state of residence

    ·         Candidate must exhibit a positive attitude, have excellent communication skills and work well alone and with others in a team environment

    SENIOR SURVEY TECHNICIAN

We are seeking highly motivated Sr Survey Technician to support land surveying and right-of-way activities in the firm's service areas in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC. The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Director of Surveys, a PLS, to perform a broad range of survey activities including pre-fieldwork preparation and post-fieldwork data reduction and plan development. Also included are the preparation of survey plans and right-of-way plans. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, able to work independently with a minimum of supervision, and have a strong work ethic.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    • Utilize Microstation & Geopak Suite/Inroads to process and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D daily survey data.
    • Building Survey Base Maps and 3D Surface Models.
    • Produce ROW Plans, Exhibits, and record drawings.
    • Responsible for understanding and completing drawings in accordance with project specifications and various client’s survey standards.
    • Communicate with team members and Project Manager effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines.
    • Support survey field crews and may include some out of town travel.
    • Aid in preparation of field packets for field crews.
    • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • MicroStation and Geopak Suite/Inroads Suite/Open Roads-Proficient a plus
    • Professional Land Surveyor or Surveyor in Training preferred
    • Survey related field work experience
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Ability to pass a basic background and drug test
    • High school diploma, technical school or College
    • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship

    Overview

    • Reviews, prioritizes and schedules requests for survey work and maintenance and inspection mandates and schedules to ensure timely response to work requests involving land surveys, line sag measurements, locating of lines and equipment, and other related work.
    • Reviews, approves and stamps survey drawings prepared by union survey crew members.
    • Review work assignments with survey crews, provide direction and regarding the completion of assignments.
    • Coach and train crews to operate equipment and work in an efficient and safe manner.
    • Provides productivity and status reports on individuals and processes. Monitors and manages vacation and time off requests.
    • Keeps up to date on current surveying techniques and evaluates the use of new equipment and the development of efficient and safe work practices.

    Qualifications:

    Education Required: Pennsylvania Professional Surveyor’s License and three years of experience in land surveying field and office work.

    Education Preferred: Five to ten years of experience in land surveying field and office work.

    Skills: Expert knowledge of land surveying. Knowledge of Electric Utility Substation and Transmission & Distribution (T&D) equipment. Knowledge of Infrared Technology. Knowledge of Autodesk Survey software, Trimble Survey Equipment, Microsoft Office and Geographic Information System (GIS) Applications.

    Physical Requirements: Works in field and office environment. Makes regular trips to the field to review and coordinate the work of associated crews.
