Calling all licensed surveyors who want to make an impact on the next generation of surveyors!

The 2026 National Scout Jamboree will be held July 22-31, 2026 with participants on site during that time at the Summit Bechtel Reserve near Glen Jean, WV, and there will be a booth there to help scouts earn their Surveying Merit Badge. As presentations and workbooks for the scouts are being updated, we are searching for staff to help teach the badge.

Some numbers that may influence your decision to participate:

  • 2023: The last National Jamboree

  • OVER 250: Number of Surveying Merit Badges completed during the Jamboree

  • ~50: Number of Surveying Merit Badges given to young women

  • ~10: Number of youths that were working to complete all 140 Merit Badges

  • 1: Number of attendees that earned all 140 Merit Badges when he completed Surveying at the Jamboree

With 3 staff for Week One and 5 staff for Week Two, the Surveying Merit Badge was able to jump up a couple spots on the yearly ranking for earned badges. Unfortunately, a lot of kids were turned away due to the lack of staff availability. With your participation, we could teach surveying to many more children and help foster the next generation of surveyors!

There are a few different options for those who want to attend and help out, and there are fees associated with attending. The fees are as follows:

  • Staying On-Site and Camping:

    • Full Session: July 19th-31st - $1,060 (under 29 is $650)

    • First Week: July 19th-25th - $700 (under 29 is $400)

    • Second Week: July 25th-31st - $700 (under 29 is $200)

  • Day Staff Staying Off-Site:

    • Perfect for those who can only help for a day or two who live locally or would prefer to stay at a hotel.

    • Dates are somewhat flexible.

    • You must park off-site and ride a shuttle to the Jamboree site.

NSPS is working to raise funds to cover the booth costs and support volunteers. Numbers have not been finalized yet, but there will be some assistance provided. PSLS may also be able to provide assistance for members who choose to volunteer.
