I had the opportunity to present a 1-hour session entitled “The Subdivision Plan and the Surveyor” to members of PAAZO, PA Association of Zoning Officials, an affiliate association of PSATS, PA State Association of Township Supervisors, on May 4th in Hershey. The session was well attended with over 80 zoning officials in attendance.
We discussed the subdivision plan development before the plan gets submitted to the township for review. I explained the types of subdivisions, the role of the Surveyor in the township, and attendance at township meetings from our perspective.
The session was well received, and there was plenty of interaction and questions. I handed out our PSLS scales along with a print of a 30-scale drawing and taught the group how to scale a drawing. The group really appreciated that.
I will be presenting a webinar on behalf of PSLS to PSATS on June 25th. The topic of the webinar is “Surveying 101-The Role of the Surveyor in your Township.” The goal of this webinar is to educate township employees about what a surveyor does, types of products they need a surveyor for, and basic survey lingo they will need in order to write an RFP for surveying services.
